The tracks for my new jazz CD were recorded at the ABC last week, I have been choosing takes and will be getting onto post-production soon. It was a very relaxed and inspiring project with a special brief that I created for the occasion: jazz piano trio interpretations of 60s and 70s pop tunes. I had fabulous musical contributions from brilliant bassist Ben Waples (23) with whom I have been working for some time and a wonderful and sensitive new young drummer I have found, James Hauptmann (22).
I will spending all of September in Jakarta, Indonesia, a one month residency. I will be doing some part-time teaching as artist-in-residence at
Institut Musik Daya, the first and only independent academy of music providing a comprehensive international standard curriculum in Indonesia founded by a team including Indonesia's jazz piano diva Ms Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah. I will also be performing Thursday-Saturday at Jakarta's
Nine Muses Club a music venue created to offer the residents of Jakarta high quality music performances plus fine food and which will be receiving an Award from the Asean Business Survey in September. As my teaching hours are quite short I plan to do some of my own composing in Jakarta.
